Testimonials

In-Person Bodywork

"I have worked with Angie and Amy for the better part of two decades. During my professional dance career, I became a regular client. After transitioning into a new occupation, I suffered back spasms and debilating lockups from excessive repetitive motion after several years of hand-producing confections. Angie was able to correct the imbalance of almost 2 inches difference between my shoulders in a matter of months. She has kept me stable and aligned ever since. I can't recommend her highly enough."

"I have had the great fortune to know and work with Amy since 2004. She started working on my body with her great skills honed over the years. She's always studying and adding to her healing repertoire. I am still seeing her after all these years. She is always able to bring relief for whatever ails me. This, in turn, leaves me joyous after every session. I'm grateful for Amy Shelley."

"I have been getting bodywork from Energy In Motion for a number of years. I have engaged with many LMTs in my life and Angie is, hands down the best that's ever worked on me. She is thoughtful, communicative, and intuitive. I value good rapport with my care providers and Angie delivers that in spades. Angie has helped me find relief from all sorts of issues from neck strain from long hours in front of a computer to strained muscles from running and lifting to the crazy amounts of stress that seem to store in my calves. I haven't ever left a session feeling I had the same issues as I had when I went in. I never hesitate to refer my friends and family to EIM whenever they are considering adding this kind of work to their self-care plans. I don't believe you could do better than Energy In Motion. I owe a large portion of my quality of life to Angie and her work."

Live Online Somatics Coaching

"I had a great time. Amy is very knowledgeable, insightful and an excellent teacher.  I learned a lot about my body, there’s significant progress with my shoulder, and I feel empowered to take care of my body. The sessions exceeded my expectations because there was education, practice and coaching on a holistic level!"

"I tell people I’m getting ‘massage’ on Zoom and people laugh, and they are fascinated, and curious.
I was seeing Angie Simmons and needed to continue my regular sessions, despite the COVID-19 shut down, so we began virtual massage! What makes Live Online Somatic Coaching possible with Angie is her remarkable fluency in conceptualizing how the body operates, her knowledge and her quick and useful creativity in providing solutions for aches and pains. She is attentive and suggests safe and intelligent ways for me to remedy the pain or discomfort I present to her. Her instructions enable me to copy what she is saying, and also what she visually demonstrates.  Angie is remarkable as a Live Online Somatic Coach.  She is verbally clear and specific, while absorbing the information you give to her. Angie is a natural teacher, and is bright and good-humored, as well!"

"I've been unable to get massages in person for a while, first from Covid-19 and then from my schedule.  Angie made everything so convenient.  She helped me pick out good equipment to use at home for our session and booking was so easy. I felt an immediate improvement in my trouble spots and she gave me great regular stretches and self-massage techniques to maintain and regain those results on my own beyond that session.  I never would have thought that a virtual massage would be so great, but it certainly was.  I wholeheartedly recommend getting a virtual massage, for convenience, what I learned, and great, relaxing results!"

"My hour appointment each week with Amy is often the high point of my week!  She listens carefully and always suggests exercises or practices that help whatever the current issue is.  My 73-year-old body seems to need frequent attention these days and she is patient, understanding, and very helpful. Her anatomy charts have several times enabled me to point to an offending muscle that I couldn't describe or seem to locate very well. The weekly exercises she suggests are always helpful.  I live too far from Denver for hands-on therapy and the online sessions help so much.  She gets 5 stars for her considerable experience, patience, and skill!"

"Working with Angie has been life-changing for me. I have PTSD from the shootings at Columbine HS in 1999. My relationship with my body has not been a great one and my trauma made it an even harder battle to start. I started with Angie a few years ago with in-person treatments and moved to virtual treatments.  I am thankful for the information and knowledge she is always willing to share during our sessions.  Angie has intuition and compassion for people that made me feel safe immediately.  I am feeling more capable of my own healing than ever before. I have more control over the physical symptoms of my depression and anxiety that rips thru my body that usually leave me exhausted, moody, and in pain.  She has helped me feel empowered in my body. My work with Angie virtually, online, has been just as effective and I enjoy being able to work from the comfort of my home. I am thankful every day for having this amazing healer in my life."

"I tend to neglect my self-care in the best of times, so when my back and hips began flaring up during the pandemic, I was struggling since I wasn't comfortable meeting anyone in person. I began weekly virtual sessions with Amy over a year ago, and they have been a bright spot in my weeks ever since. With the ease of meeting virtually, and minimal time-commitment (no commute!), I've been more consistent in checking in with my body and my health during this year with Amy than at any other time in my life. That weekly touch-point is enough to go through exercises or activities that focus on whatever area needs work and to learn and practice new techniques. My back and hip pain has gone away, and Amy has been teaching me ways to care for myself to avoid that pain in the future. And the conversations are constantly shifting based on how I'm feeling that week - when I woke up unable to turn my head, Amy was my saving grace. Same for when two of my fingers went numb. In addition to being knowledgeable,  experienced, and professional; Amy is an absolute pleasure to work with. She truly listens and focuses on my health and my needs in those sessions - even if that means we focus on breathing techniques the entire time. I'm looking forward to in-person sessions again eventually but, even when that happens, I am keeping my virtual sessions with Amy!"

"I'd been living with chronic pain and headaches due to TMJ, but after working with Amy on Zoom, things are so much better!  She's helped me become aware of where I'm holding tension, and given me a variety of techniques to release it.   She's warm, friendly, and knowledgeable, and really takes the time to explain and demonstrate the things she's teaching."

Group Workshops

"A benefit of the pandemic lockdown was the creativity that university dance programs incorporated into their curriculums. I asked Angie to present a self-care workshop for an advanced technique class meeting over Zoom. Angie provided readings prior to the workshop that assisted the students with terminology and focus of the workshop. My students gained valuable self-care practices. As the instructor, I participated in the workshop, was reminded of principles and techniques, and gained new knowledge. The workshop worked well on Zoom and I can envision it being successful with my classes back in the studio and Angie projected the screen."

-- Jessica P., Associate Prof. of Dance, Rhode Island College

Online Classes

"I participated in a workshop series of four foam/ball rolling online self-care classes with Angie, as well as a couple of private sessions, and it changed my life. Being a professional dancer, gaining this knowledge has really helped me keep my body active while staying pain-free. Her understanding of how the body works together as a whole is impressive and I couldn't believe how many muscle groups we learned to target with just a couple of tools. She even went above and beyond and made the class recordings available for us to use whenever we needed to reference them. 100% highly recommend any online body self-care workshop Angie teaches!"

"I cannot recommend this class enough! As a professional dancer and contortionist, I get all kinds of sore muscles, as well as aches and pains. What I learned in this class has really helped me to manage those issues on my own. I also really appreciated the welcoming environment and how knowledgeable and helpful the teacher was. A wonderful and helpful class!"
